so my gf's bday is coming up and she wants ninja stars and throwing knives (weird, i know), apparently they are pretty fun and cooler than darts... anyways, i'm gonna start her off with ninja stars and know nothing about them, so i was just wondering if anyone knew where to get high quality stars, or at least could tell me what to look for so i don't buy something that will break or be worthless

if you got time for it, i know some guys who might make 'em for ya. it'll cost ya, but they won't break... other than that, i'm pretty sure they only sell cheap shit replicas at those little asian novelty stores... OR, there's definitely some "ninja supply"/martial arts supply catologs/websites that i'm sure you can find with some quick googling. ninja's are awesome and you sound like a lucky bastard with your ninja girlfriend. pm me if you want to know about those guys who can make them. hope this isn't advertising, please don't strike me. cheers

First of all, if you're getting her shuriken, just keep in mind that most of what you'll see is bullshit, through and through. Also, remember that real shuriken are dangerous when properly(or improperly) used, so perhaps getting her a set of training gear would be a good idea, especially if she's interested in studying a martial art that uses them.

They sell training gear of various types, and while I tend to shy away from certain things, having a set of training Senban shuriken is nice. If she's really in the hole and wants something to chuck, CD jewel cases work too...but they break.

alright thanks for the tips guys. I know google is a good resource to find anything, but I figured someone here might have first-hand knowledge of shurikens and be able to point me in a good direction to find high quality stars that would otherwise take me hours of message board searching to find. She's thrown some before so I don't think I need to get her any training gear
