Sega Saturn game sugestions?

Post by brendanraymond »

Looking for a good game to play on the saturn.

I would really like to play a side scroller game, like sonic the hedghog or rocket knight adventures or something.

and if there is any cool game that i should have, list them too.

I have a few of the RPGs and shootem ups, like radient silvergun, virtual on etc

I could list them, but im not at home. :(

I dont believe i have any side scrolling games. the closest i have is cotton2, but thats more of a shootem up as apposed to a side scroller.

Is shinobi any good?

For a side scroller get Shinobi Legions. If you like Shinobi on the Genesis, Shinobi Legions will rock your world.

Shinobi Legions is horrible digitized garage. Get Astal, Rayman, Silhouette Mirage, Metal Slug, the Mega Mans, Earthworm Jim 2....

I'll second those and throw in Elevator Action Returns and Princess Crown if you have an Action Replay plus and a few bucks lying around.

Yeah, Shinobi's actually pretty fun if you can get past the ridiculous presentation of it. It's not as classic or memorable as Shinobi 3, but pretty good nonetheless. You use the sword a lot more, for one thing.

Assault Suits Leynos 2 is a side-scroller, but not of the Sonic varietem. Yeah, I made up the word "varietem".

Then there's that game where you're a taxi with eyeballs, Tryrush Deppy.

Then there's that other game, Super Tempo. Apparently it costs a lot though.

But if money is no object, and you've got Silvergun so maybe it isn't, Psychic Assassin Taroumaru is mostly a side-scroller with the occasional weird around-the-corner-scrolling. The controls are pretty effed up considering it's THE MOST EXPENSIVE GAME but it plays kind of a lot like Alien Soldier.

Unfortunately side-scrolling platformers probably aren't the Saturn's strong suit.

::Edit:: Oh yeah, allow me to echo everyone's sentiments that Astal is great.
My game-related blog.

If you want side scroller platformers you got:
Clockwork Knight
Clockwork Knight 2
Earthworm Jim 2
Elevator Action Returns
Gex
Johnny Bazookatone
Keio Flying Squadron 2
Akumajo Dracula X: Gekka no Yasoukyoku
Mega Man X4
Pandemonium!
Rayman
Princess Crown
Skeleton Warriors
Sonic Jam
3 Wonders (one of the games on it is)
Bubble Bobble also featuring Rainbow Islands
Astal
Liquid Kids
Mega Man 8: Anniversary Edition
Mega Man X3
Shinobi Legions (the JP version is better)
Shinrei Jusatsushi Taroumaru

Hi, Im curious about that - whats the difference between the JP version and the others, according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shinobi_Legions#Trivia the US version is the same, while the EUR version had the CD audio replaced with superior chip music (released as Shinobi X).

Thanks
