What Games Have You Played Multiple Ports Of?

Post by racketboy »

Which port did you prefer?
Obviously, if its an arcade port, don't list the arcade version as the superior one. :)

I'll start with Skies of Arcadia.
I own both the Dreamcast and Gamecube versions. They are pretty much identical, but the Gamecube version has a few less random battles and I get to use my Wavebird.

Gamecube version has a few dozen more discoveries, a bounty hunter mode with 8 new bosses I believe, plus a couple old bosses included in the list. It also has 1 new ultimate weapon for Vyse, 1 new super god damn hard boss battle (Air Pirate Vigoro). Random battles are toned down and rewards are slightly greater. Load times are better. I think I am forgetting something...

On the downside, the music quality is crap on Gamecube. Sounds emulated.

Took all these pictures myself:

Honestly the only game that sticks out in my mind is Batman Forever - for the Mega Drive and SNES. Rented it a few times as me and my friends like playing it back in the day. The SNES version was terrible - between every area a loading screen saying "HOLD ON". No loading screens on the Mega Drive version. Needless to say we stuck with the Mega Drive version....

I used to have that on my Genesis as well. Never tried the SNES one. I had fun with it. I enjoyed the cheesy pre-rendered sprites. Game was a little too dark in areas though, which made the platforming elements a bitch. Often times, there was no visible distinction between the platform and the air.

Edit: Just loaded up the ROM. Haven't played in so many years. This game cracks me up with it's style. You definitely feel Probe's Mortal Kombat type gameplay here, mixed in with a little Judge Dredd (also Genesis) presentation.
