PAX East was a blast, and hopefully these next two shows function to give you a sense of what was going on that made it so much fun. There was lots to see and do to interest a classic gamer.
Some personal highlights related to this first part of the roundup:
The ACAM classic arcade
I got to play a few cabinets that I'd never seen before: Omega Race, Quantum, Joust II, and High Speed (pinball). I also watched some nice playthroughs of Dragon's Lair. You can see the list (and pictures on later pages) of what was at the show here: http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthr ... 297&page=3
Wombat
I skipped Wesley Crusher's keynote to see Wombat's panel, and am pretty sure I made the right choice. The interview was fun: hearing his sob story about the Genesis bundle of stuff he sold is something many of us can probably relate to, and it was nice to hear his own thoughts on the future of one of the few gaming podcasts I regularly enjoy.
Joe - Digital Press
Joe has been into the retro gaming "scene" long before it became what it is now - he even published fanzines on the topic before the web took off. I picked up a few games from his table at the show, and spent even more time at the Classic Console free play room. Playing Rescue Rangers 2 co-op with Racket was a highlight, and watching a room full of people take a trip down memory lane was a close second.
Jamie - Game Underground
Jamie was extremely enthusiastic about everything we discussed, and sounds like he is off a great start with his new store. I picked up a few things from his table as well, and wish I lived closer to Boston so I could check out all the cool things he's doing in the near future.
