cave story/doukutsu monogatar - indie platformer for pc/mac

Post by grittykitty »

i was playing this game a while back, and it's a great platformer in the 8-bit style made by a single soul under the name of studio pixel. there are english patches as well for both the mac and pc versions. oh, and it's FREEWARE!

All the ballers is bouncin they like the way I be leanin
All the rappers be hatin, off the track that I'm makin

Wow that's a really big bump - almost 3 and a half years...
Awesome game, but mostly everyone already knows that.
It's been ported to PSP, DS, Xbox, and I can't wait to play it on Wii with the new graphics and downloadable content by Pixel. I hope they do a better job on the music than what I heard on their site. Actually they should just commission some of the guys who did the Cave Story Remix Project. I love that album.

Better to bump than create more threads I suppose. Glad to see someone using the search function :D . This coming up is a really odd coincidence. I was literally just at work thinking about how cool it'd be if the game got an indie published disc-based release on the system.

Here's the blog that tracks the progress for the Cave Story Wii port. There's comparison pictures of the sprites and backgrounds.

Hmm, I thought I remembered playing through quite a bit of it on DS, but I must've been mistaken. It's not on my card anymore so I guess it was never completed.
