So im looking for a dedicated monitor for my Saturn/PS1/PS2/Snes and need lightgun support. I was set on buying a Sony KD-34XBR960, but of course that would have been a bad choice. I searched here and found great suggestions, but most were for HD-Tube sets, or computer monitors with only a VGA input.
If I can find some sort of pro-grade NEC with RGB inputs that would be great, but I know that will be hard to get. Any suggestions?
Best non-HD CRT ?
Re: Best non-HD CRT ?
Buy a Sony Trinitron or a nice Monivision or Sampo VGA CRT monitor that has Composite , s-video , vga, and component inputs.
Sampo monitors are sometimes called NET TV or Picturetel as well.
Here is my Picturetel with a 34" Toshiba Tube

I'm very Happy with my RCA truflat. It has nice vivid colors; it's lightweight; it comes with RGB inputs; it works great with my zapper, and it's fairly cheap. Roses is selling twenty-seven inchers right now for less than a hundred and fifty dollars.

Roses is a wholesale chain in the South East US. There are two near me. Here are the locations: http://www.vwstores.com/store-locations/
On the Store Locator at the top, change "view all stores" to "roses store" and hit GO.
This is the TV I have

Found it on the side of the road
One of the few benefits of LCD monitors is people throwing out decent CRT's.
Re: Best non-HD CRT ?
I have been partial to Sony TVs. Good point sticking to Non-HD CRT to maintain Lightgun capability in the older consoles. It is a trade off though because that PS2 would look sweet with Component 480p. You may want to stick with the 4:3 instead of wide screen since you are running older 4:3 output consoles. There is a way to make the PS2 work with HDs. Wrote an extensive article at my signature which may help.
