Fake Super Famicom Cart (Can someone confirm?)

Post by emwearz »

I just bought a copy of Super Mario Collection (Super Mario All-Stars) for the Super Famicom off eBay, when I opened it, I instantly thought the cart felt 'cheap', after putting it side by side with a real Super Famicom game (SSFIIT) I am all be positive that it is a pirate cart, can someone who has experience confirm this.

Take notice of a few things.

. The is no Nintendo, Super Famicom Cassete stamp on the back
. There warning is in English and stamped into the cart, all my other carts it is a sticker
. There is a gap missing in the bottom left and right hand corner, it is a small circle hole on my other carts it is oval and goes to the bottom on this cart
. There are 6 notches on the sides of the cart, all my other carts have 5 notches
. The cart is a slightly darker color when held side by side with the real cart

I am not sure if the japanese perhaps had two differant versions of carts, but I highly doubt it, anyone want to confirm this for me.

Second question is, what action can I take on eBay with this?

The warning sticker on the cart on the right is pretty off-center. I'd assume it's fake.

no official pal or jap carts had the grooves cut on back. those are so it can fit in a US snes. also, the cart does not say nintendo on the back warning label area

In the event it is a pirate, I think its unlikely the seller knew. Either way, maybe I'm mistaken, but didn't you make a post in the deals of the day section saying you got it for 5$ shipped?

Opening it up would be the surest way to tell, but yeah, pretty damn sure its fake. Those notches match the ones in US carts. So the bootlegger just saved them self some time by making the carts round so they fit in a SFami and notches so it will fit in a SNES.

Not much to say past what has been, but the Mario one is definitely a fake for the aforementioned reasons. The lack of a corporate logo on something virtually guarantees that it's fake.
