Dreamcast VMU usage?

Post by PIGSTAUB »

I have several VMUs for my Dreamcast but I don't know how to use them other than to save games. Is there an instruction manual out there that is scanned? (or you could just post the instructions if they are brief)
I would really appreciate it.

I think the specific game has to support them visually in some way - in Shenmue for example when learning new moves the button combinations would be shown on the VMU screen. I think you could also download small animated characters to the VMU from unlocking stuff in Shenmue...or it might have been Shenmue II.

Different game may offer different VMU "minigames". For example, Sonic Adventure has a minigame for the VMU that you can play to beef up your Chaos (Sonic Adventure virtual pets). Each game will have its own special VMU instructions. The only universal thing they do for every game is act as a memory card.
