Hi everyone,
a friend has some videos in .avi format, apparently encoded (I think this is the right term) in indeo video 5 or something like that. The missing codec that Media player complains about is IV50. Apparently this is a legacy thing, and Intel sold the license of the codec or something and someone charges for it, a bit of a mess. I have a program called "Any video converter" that can change it to something that modern PCs read, but it makes the video smaller in size (I don't mean storage space but actually width and height of the viewable video). On the other hand on the web I can find some codec packs but the sort of stuff that seems a bit shady and I fear for viruses.
Has anyone run into this issue and knows a good way to solve it or "go around it"?
KMplayer runs it, unlike VLC and Windows Media player, so that is at least a work around I found.
Ivo.

Ligos Indeo - iv5setup.exe 1.9mb

The K-Lite Mega codec pack is safe and you can use it to install just the indeo codec, or all the codecs.
