New 72 pin connector not working?
New 72 pin connector not working?
Well, I recently got a new 72 pin connector for my NES and it doesn't seem to be working properly. Some games usually won't work, some games will usually work with graphical glitches, and a few will consistently work. Are there any common mistakes that people make when replacing their connectors? Is the new connector bad? Any help would be appreciated.

Did you clean your games? If you replaced and 72 pin but didn't clean the games you only half solved the problem and the games will just get crap on the new 72 pin and you will have gotten nowhere.

Yeah, I've recently cleaned all of my games. I suppose it couldn't hurt to try one more time, though.Hobie-wan wrote:Did you clean your games? I know that one common problem with new pin connectors is that they don't want to work with games that still have that "dirty" copper build-up on them. I would suggest maybe cleaning the carts with some contact cleaner. I purchased some game cleaner stuff from this site a while back that worked pretty good.
Even alcohol doesn't get the copper build-up off of the contacts. When I cleaned my games with that stuff they all worked great with my new pin connector.
