My gaming setup/collection

Post by Josh »

Here are some pics of my main gaming setup. I don't really show my TV, but it's a 62" Zenith Plasma Flat-Screen display. I know that the pics aren't that high quality (seeing as they're cell phone pics) so if you want a more detailed "tour", it's on my YouTube channel in my sig, as well as a few in depth collection videos. But this isn't a shoddy YouTube ad, so here are the pics.

Direct links because I forgot to resize on imageshack.

My consoles. In order from back left, clockwise.
Pac Man Plug N' Play, Atari Plug N' Play, Pinball Plug N Play, Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, PS2 Slim, Genesis on top of xBox, Wii, 360, Gamecube and SNES.

My games. Bottom left, clockwise.
Genesis, SNES, PS3, GCN, PS1, DC, 360, N64, Wii, xBox.

More games.
Top shelf, left to right: NES games, Boxed GBA games, Nintendo Mini Classics LCD games.
Middle shelf, left to right: DS games, (B/S/T pile in green basket), GB/C/A games in the white basket. (Idea credit to petedorr)
Bottom shelf, left to right: Gamecube games, original Game Boy, GBA SP. (I have a DS and a Micro, but they weren't shown. The Micro is on video though.)

Rest of the games.
Top shelf: PS2 and GCN.
Bottom shelf: Videonow Color XP with "games".

Any advice, tips, or comments? I'll post pics of my games in detail so you won't have to go through a few 2-8 minute videos. Thanks.

Yay Controller wires!!!!

I also like the addition of the plug n' plays, you might want to consider a mame emulator or something.

Another critic. I put a shelf under my coffee table for all the controllers. Plug and Plays are getting rare. Hey, thanks for sharing.

You know, I've been thinking about finding out how to build a mame emulator, but I don't actually have the room for it. I'd probably have to move a lot of stuff around. And I'd rather not take a risk of breaking anything, considering I know nearly nothing about electronics building. Thanks for the suggestion though.

And yes, the Plug n Plays are a great addition. My personal favorite is the Atari one, since I never had a 2600. I do plan on getting one soon though.

Also, I might be getting a Sega Saturn within the next month, any idea where I should put it? Maybe putting the 360 upright and putting the Saturn in between it and the Wii? Any suggestions?

We will have a beginners guide to MAME on the site in the near future. It is in the second of atleast four revisions. The final run is if my old man can install it with the guide, but he is about to be out of contact for a few months so Ill have to make do with a not savvy relative.

How is that Pinball PlugnPlay, I have seen it in stores recently and havent picked it up.

It's actually pretty good. I think it only has three boards. The paddle buttons are on the shoulders and the shake buttons are on the front, which work really well. Graphics seem great, 2D obviously. The music is great.

My only beef is that the lever stick that activates the ball sticks sometimes, but it hasn't broken for me. Though the spring probably would wear out after a while. I think it's a great pickup, especially since they're becoming rare. Also, mono sound, but that can be fixed with a splitter. You could probably get those at RadioShack.

While you have pretty decent collection, that wire clutter is horrid. Buy yourself a plastic box that you can slot under the table, roll up your controllers and store them there. It would look 10 fold better.

Ah yes, that sounds like a good idea. Yeah wire clutter has been a problem for a while. I'll see about getting some cheap ones, maybe those cheap storage containers or something. Thanks.
