whats the best crt for lightgun games?

Ok so I am looking to get a good CRT to play old systems on. It MUST be able to play light gun games. I read through the crtgamers post but didnt see anything about tvs that work with lightguns, it may be in there and I just missed but if not can any please suggest a tv to keep my eyes open for.

People here really like the Sony trinitron series of TV (a buddy of mine has a really old one which is my only experience with them). Lets wait for crtgamer to see his opinion.

I've had both a rounded Trinitron CRT (32") and a flat Trinitron HD-CRT (30"ish widescreen). Lightguns work with the rounded one but NOT with the flat screen one. Make of that what you will.

I have a flat screen SD trinitron that works just fine with light guns. It's the HD flat screens that are the problem.

Pretty much any NON-HD tube TV will work with the lightgun. I just updated my post to make that more clear. Its when you get into LCD's and HD CRT's you run into problems. That is when you start looking into sensor lightguns similar to the Wii light bar. CRT VGA monitors work with the Dreamcast lightgun. If anyone has not read my article yet, I did a comparison of various displays, lightguns and some historical trivia at the my signature link.

Wrong, lightguns will work on any standard definition Trinitron be it rounded, flat, or the later Wega Tru-Flat sets.

Lightguns however will not work on high definition Trinitron CRT's or any other HDTV for that matter.

I have a Total Flat Panasonic and light guns fire, but are not aimed correctly... I know this is an old post, but you do need a 'Rounded Television', that is what the guns were designed for.

what I mean by not aimed correctly;

you shoot the center of the screen and it fires on the left.
calibrating the gun (on games and systems that allow) the further you move left, the gun will not fire, only blink the screen. right side cannot shoot to the edge....

I thought my gun was broke when I was trying to rock some Virtua Cop... after testing the above systems on the flat tube, then trying other TV's helped me with the above results.

sometimes (not all the time) advanced comb filtering may affect, that was taken in consideration with the above tests.

Rounded or flat non-HD shouldn't matter, Lightgun reads the scanlines of the TV screen.
