Questions About Wonderswan Crystal

Post by lisalover1 »

So, I have the option to buy a Final Fantasy-edition Wonderswan Color with FF 1&2 for under $20, or a Wonderswan Crystal with no games for $40. I guess what I'm asking is, is the upgraded screen worth the extra money, in this case? I've never gotten a special-edition console, so I'm kind of interested in the Final Fantasy WSC, but I've heard good things about the WSCR's screen, and was kind of upset when I bought my Game Gear, which was the model without the better screen; it makes it very difficult to use the Master Gear adapter. Anyway; what's your opinion? WSC or WSCR?

I've never used a WSCrystal, but I found the FF edition WSColor to be totally fine for most games. I guess if you plan on using it a lot the Crystal is better... but honestly, is this going to be a system that you will spend a lot of time using?

The FF edition would be a much nicer showpiece.

I really depends on where you will be playing it. If you plan traveling with it go for the crystal but if you will be playing at home the most it shouldn't matter.

After checking Ebay, I think it's safe to say that Wonderswan games are EXPENSIVE. Most games cost more than the system itself!

I own both and I can say that the SwanCrystal's screen looks somewhat sharper with less blur, but I wouldn't say significantly so.
To get the picture I like I prefer to fiddle around with the contrast dial of the WSColor, something which the WScrystal does not have.

Okay, WSC it is! Can anyone recommend a good place to buy cheap WS games? Like I said, the WS comes with Final Fantasy 1 and 2.

Just make sure that you are aware that the screen on either WSC or SC are similar to the GBA, without any frontlit or backlit LEDs; so you will need a good light source to reflect the LCD screen. That said, I would agree that the SwanCrystal has a better screen.

Which FF edition WSC were you looking at? The FF II does come with a limited strap for the WSC, but I think that hardly matters.

On games for the WS series, I did post a comment about it on this site and RisingStuff.com, as some games are priced higher than the console itself. But you should be able to get FFI, II, and IV for under USD $15, other games can be obtained for similar price. The most expensive ones (according to members of RisingStuff) are Judgement Silversword and Dicing Knights, each going at least USD $100.

I gotten all WS games off on ebay, and risingstuff does carry a good selection as well, just give the staff at risingstuff some time to response. Otherwise I do have some WSC games available.

I second rising stuff. I got Guilty Gear Petit for only $8. I do most of my wonderswan shopping at forums, assembler, digital press, Neo-geo, and of course here. I don't see auctions alot but some buy it nows are at a fair price on Ebay.

Skyknight you have some your selling still? Also maybe Breetai will export for you.

WonderSwan Color is a fun handheld system. I don't have too many games for it but Final Fantasy is at top of my recommendations. 8)
