Dollar store finds you wanna share?

Post by REPO Man »

I live near a Dollar Tree, a major chain store based out in Virginia, with tons of locations.

And they almost always have some cool stuff. And before that, there was also the Dollar Tree in Nags Head.

Here's some of the cool stuff I've found at both:

* Crimson Skies novelization, which is actually an anthology of stories in the CS universe
* Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow novelization
* some Medabots figurines, which were also used for games
* Harry Potter TCG booster packs
* Team Sleep debut album. Meh.
* Panic at the Disco's "Pretty. Odd." album
* Capitalism Plus for the PC
* Asteroids remake for the PC
* Cube 2: Hypercube on VHS, with hardcoded Spanish subs, still shrinkwrapped. And a few other VHS tapes in similar condition and nature (like two of the four parts of that Robocop made-for-TV miniseries event)
* Hardback copy of Walter Mosley's "Futureland" (a postcyberpunk anthology)
* Hardback copy of Forest DeVoe's "Into the Volcano" (a spy thriller)
* Hardback copy of David Weber's "off Armageddon Reef" (the first entry of the Safehold series)
* some YuGiOh! Hexors (Mattel also made Justice League Hexors)
* some cheapo DVDs with public domain movies

Some game called Panzer dragoon saga for saturn. They had stacks of them. Looked like a crappy game though.

The only thing I can think of that would be of interest to people on this board is this video:

It's pretty awesome.

Oh, and one of the VHS tapes was the DTV animated "Mortal Kombat" movie that they put out around the same time as the movie.

Yes... the one with the then-so-so CGI scenes.

Wouldn't it make more sense to just post this kind of stuff in the finds of the day? We will pretty much be having 2 threads with close to identical content.

EDIT: NVM, this is non gaming related.

I scored a pair of leather shoes I wore to a wedding, cost me $5, I was happy, hate buying shit like that.

I scored an awesome dart gun for $1 at my dollar store. I was able to shoot my roommate with it like 8 times before it broke. AWESOME DEAL!

Seriously though, at a dollar store near me they have like 24 packs of AA batteries for $2. Obviously a cheap brand, but they last for a suprisingly long amount of time for the price.

Ha I've bought dollar store batteries before. Love the engrish written on them.

Something I've learned is that everything you buy at the dollar store has got to be defective in some way. Even when you think "how can this possibly have anything wrong with it" it will have something wrong with it. Most the time you can overlook it because of how cheap it is, but some things are defective in incredible ways:

Masking tape - it doesn't stick. Seriously.
Cheap dvds - they didn't even play
Incense holder - it stained my windowsill. Seriously. How can they make a block of wood with a hole in it defective?!
Vanilla Incense - smell great if you like the smell of smoke. . . which I kinda do.

The pound stores here sell masking/duct tape that doesn't stick too. Maybe they get them from the same place. Tape, that doesn't stick. WTF?
