Diesel_Dan's Game Room

Post by diesel_dan »

Hi guys! I'm new to the site, so let me take a second to introduce myself.

I've been gaming all my life but just started seriously collecting for the last six months or so. As you can see, I have a little bit of everything, which keeps the hobby fun and interesting to me. It all goes in the game room, affectionaly known as the Glory Hole:

Nice! If the astronauts in "2001: A Space Odyssey" had a game room, it would look like this. I love how minimalist your room looks. It draws all the attention to the consoles.

Do you have a pic of yourself next to your collection. It looks like you need a ladder to get the games above the tv.

I must say, out of all of the game rooms posted here, yours has to be one of the top rooms. It has easy access to everything (with a TV in the center to boot., has a VERY neat and "clear" appearance (its not ridiculously nerdy, people would actually want to be in that room), and you have everything there exhibition style to show every console off museum style (I dunno, conversation starter?). Round of applause! :D

BTW, the PS2's grille is dirty. You should clean it. Easily done with an old toothbrush. I hate that I'm a stickler for that kind of stuff. 8)

I too enjoy the minimalism. I'm gonna guess that you're about my age (30-ish?). I feel like we're a generation that has grown into a certain organization of our collections.

I like the way the consoles are displayed, like trophies or something.

Thanks for the kind words. Some (including myself at times) would call it an Ikea nightmare. Still have some wires to hide and some stuff to hang...and a lot more games and consoles to add :D.

It's a 10-year-old's dream come true. About 20 years late.

It is a nice room with some great systems, but has a museum look to it.

Why not wire up those systems with switch boxes and cutoff power strips. Maybe run some box tubing to hide all the wires to keep the clean look you have. Then you can truly enjoy all those great Retro systems you own.
