New (sequel) Blaster Master Monday 2/8/10

Post by SpaceBooger »

Check it out:
BLASTER MASTER™: OVERDRIVE is an action-shooting game that takes place on an Earth infected by an aggressive, polymorphic virus. Poor, defenseless animals worldwide infected by the virus have been turned into flesh-eating, hemoglobin-swilling terrors. Fortunately, the world has Alex. And, even more coincidentally, he happens to be one of the world’s foremost biologists - specializing in viral mutation profiles and genetic manipulation.

and

Gameplay in BLASTER MASTER™:OVERDRIVE retains the critically acclaimed format of the original NES BLASTER MASTER™, alternating between side-scrolling platforming in S.O.P.H.I.A. and overhead-perspective blasting and exploration when controlling Alex.

and even better yet: This game was translated by Victor Ireland, former president of video game publisher Working Designs! It looks like he has a new company: Gaijinworks.
I love Working Designs stuff and am excited to see both a new Blaster Master game and the return of Vic... bring on the WD humor!

I'm really digging this trend of "updating", for lack of a better word, classic games. With Mega Man 10, Sonic 4, and hopefully more ReBirth games on the horizon I can't wait to see what the retro future holds.

Digital distribution is the way to go. I am far more likely to shell out $10 for a shorter, maybe simpler, 2D game than a sprawling 3D epic that would eat up 50 hours, 50 dollars new, and entail having to deal with retail troglodytes.

Looks good. I would love for it to come out on a disc so I can purchase it.

That's why Amazon was invented.

Didn't Gaijin works make X-blades? What else have they made, because that wasn't a very good game at all...

edit: Nevermind... Gaijin entertainment made x blades.

That's Gaijin Entertainment, not Gaijinworks.

Yeah I looked it up afterwords. Probably should have done that in the first place. Blaster Master overdrive looks awesome. Sadly I don't have a wii.

That looks pretty cool. The PS1 game was pretty underwhelming. I don't have a Wii though. Oh well.
