Dragon Age: Morrigan's upper lip

Post by J T »

I love Morrigan's upper lip. Here's a clip so you'll know what I'm talking about:

I haven't played Dragon Age yet, but I love Morrigan's upper lip that shows just a little too much teeth. I know that they modeled somed of the characters in this game after real people and I think the benefit of that is that they are more relateable. Morrigan (the one that turns into a spider) totally reminds me of this girl I knew in my hometown. She was kind of bitchy and cool and had that same thing going on with her mouth. It's such a subtle thing, but it made me realize that so many videogame characters are designed with perfectly symmetrical bodies and faces that they end up losing character as a result. Maybe that's also why Bayonetta's malproportioned body is still sexy- it's not perfect. Of course, her form doesn't seem humanly possible, while Morrigan does (and is, given that she is based on this woman). I like this use of minor imperfections in character design.
