Dreamcast controller. Missing part.

Post by Haros »

Hey.

I came across an old dreamcast controller which is missing its vmu "window"

click to see what I mean :P

I know that new dreamcast controllers are very cheap. But I was wondering if I can find a replacement or I can mod it anyhow to look cool.

Any advices?

You could paint it to look like a radical space ship. With the VMU window missing the VMU's will appear to stick out and you could paint them like flames etc., then have the rest of the controller black or dark grey with little window decals etc. :P :D

edit: or are you talking about it missing an actual vmu or something?

I don't see what you are talking about. You mean because there is no VMU inside?

Looks like a normal DC controller (unless every single one of mine are all screwed up the same way).

That's how a dc controller is like.

Yeah, what exactly do you mean?

Is it missing the entire gray VMU assembly?

I don't think he realizes that the window on the controller is not actually part of the controller. The window is on the memory card that you plug into the controller. :D

He means it's missing the circled part. I don't think it would be too hard to find a busted DC controller and replace the thing, since that particular piece serves no purpose other than to make the controller look good.

Oh, that darker grey plastic molding around the VMU window? I thought he was talking about the window itself.

Yeah, looks like that grey "Window Frame" might be missing? As far as a mod or fix maybe cut a piece of clear semi hard plastic from store packaging from say a USB Memory Card purchase or the top of a rubbermaid container.
