N64 problem

Post by Hallow »

Hi all. Recently i bought n64. But when I tested it, red light shows up on console, but there is no picture or sound on TV. I tried cleaning it, different TV, different cable, but it still didn't worked. Can you help me with this problem?
PS. Sorry for my English.

Take it apart and try cleaning the inside. If that doesn't work check inside of the AV port to see if all the pins are soldered properly.

Don't worry about your English, we understand we get an international community here.

I figure it's worth asking: did you use the same game when you tested both TVs? It might be that your cartridge just wasn't seated properly or also needs to be cleaned. Also, what game are you testing it with, and what's the region on the console?

I can't believe I forgot about that.

Even if you try multiple games sometimes they are all just dirty. Clean the contacts with windex and make sure you press the games firmly in the slot.

Is there a jumper pack or memory expansion pack in the console? I don't think it will work if there isn't one or the other in the console. There is a little hatch in the console just in front of the cartridge slot. Open that little hatch and check what is in there. If it is empty, that could likely be the problem.

Definitely clean the pins on your cartridge AND the pins on the system.

I tried 3 games, but non of them worked. I also tried changing from expansion pack to jumper, cleaning bought expansion and cartridge contacts did help too. When turned on vertically white line blink's and black screen. Maybe contacts are bend? Can you post picture how they look on working n64.
