Getting a 360 HD-DVD drive to work with Windows 7?
I recently hooked my 360 HD-DVD drive up to my Windows 7 netbook. It already recognizes the drive and I've been able to use it as a CD-rom drive, but it won't allow me to play regular DVDS or HD-DVDs on my netbook. Can anyone post a link to the proper driver somewhere online? The links that were previously up back when the thing was originally for sale have been taken down since the drive was discontinued.
Currently playing: Fallout 3 and Namco Museum: Virtual Arcade (both 360)

Do you have any DVD player software installed?
I'm not sure with Windows 7, but I know on XP, Microsoft was too cheap to pay the fees to include the DVD Decoder software, so you had to install a DVD program like PowerDVD in order to get Windows Media Player to play DVDs.
It was the same thing with the original XBOX. When you bought the Dongle with the Remote, you were basically paying the fees for the decoder even though the xbox was perfectly capable of playing DVDs without the remote.

Don't HDDVDs require a HDCP compatible graphics chip and display to play? Or is that just Blurays? If the above is true then that's your problem, I'm aware of software that can bypass this, but I don't have any experience with, sorry.
Just noticed that you have problems playing normal DVDs as well, in that case it could just be the licence for mpeg2 decryption as the poster above me pointed out. Get VLC player and see if you can play the DVDs. I know that Windows Media Player doesn't like playing DVDs without some other DVD playing software being installed first.
