thexder and thexder neo

Post by weasels »

so i have had my eye on a psn store release for quite some time. i knew this game was a remake of a pc game that i have never even played due to my age and me missing that time period. the game is thexder neo (produced by SE). the only reason i did not buy it before is because of mixed reviews and complaints of it being very short. at the time of release it was 10 bucks and i was not about to put that money down on a short game. recently, however, sony reduced it's price to half that making it only $5! i want to know if anyone knows of this game (or the original) and share with me their experiences with it so i can decide if it's a good buy or not.

I dunno about the remake, but the original game is awesome. It's one of my favorite games on the Apple IIgs. The PC version doesn't look as nice graphically. You can try it out with a disk image and KEGS.

There is a game called Thexder 95 that is a relatively modern remake by Sierra.

There is also Thexder and Thexder 2 which are rather old. Thexder has a bunch of ports but some of them are not very good (the Amiga version, for example, is crap IMO).

I didn't know about Thexder Neo.

i think what i will do is just get it. it's only $5 and when im done with it i will do a review of thexder neo and maybe the original thexder together so i can have a comparison between them. that way people on racketboy will have an idea of what it's like.

I had Thexder on MSX but never finished it because, believe it or not, I felt the game to be weird to my tastes. The music and level designs felt quite strange indeed. And this coming from someone who spent months of playtime on King's Valley II

I wouldn't call either of them shmups. They are both fun platformers. You can't beat 5 bucks for neo.
