It does not have a fan. If its in a hot cabinet with other systems or a tuner or something, it could, but I don't think its likely as long as it gets air.

My Sega Saturn has never overheated before.
My PC, however, is another story.

I actually never had a system overheat, I would give some space around the console so It doesn't happen.
Systems: Sega Dreamcast(x2), Sega Genesis(x2), Sega Saturn, Sega CD, Genmobile (portable Genesis), FC Twin, PSX, PS2(x2), GBA, SP, Xbox 360, N64, Showcase Arcade

I had a PS3 overheat once, nothing else has ever gotten so hot to shut off. However, my old PowerBook G4 did manage to get within 5 degrees of emergency shut off.
No, your Saturn won't over heat unless you live in an oven.

Re: Can a Sega Saturn Overheat/Does it have a fan?
The Saturn is one of the coolest-running consoles, as well as one of the coolest consoles, period.
The it runs well, and is very quiet. I'd even say it's quieter than the Gamecube; the only thing you'll hear is the disc spinning.
Re: Can a Sega Saturn Overheat/Does it have a fan?
Most consoles can overheat, but unless they're under extreme circumstances (a small cabinet with poor airflow for example) they won't. In fact, I really wouldn't even worry about this for any console made before this generation.

sometimes I think about my Gamecube overheating. And I know you can get a fan. But then I think, well if it overheats, it's only $30 to replace the console so...

I meant that I think about it overheating when I see sites selling replacement fans. I'm suffering through a horrible horrible cold right now, so I'm not terribly lucid...Hobie-wan wrote:But... it has a fan.noiseredux wrote:sometimes I think about my Gamecube overheating.
