Hello,
My friend highly recommends playing Snes Zelda, link to the past I believe. Yet I want to play the NES before that.
I am just wondering how much time roughly is estimated to complete the game?
I know it differs from one player to another but for example you can saw
MW2 would take you 8-12 hours
Oblivion will take 30+ hours
and so...
It is really important to me to know how long it takes to complete each game, I know some of you think this takes the fun out of it but for me its a necessity. I like to know how much it will take me to complete, just how I like to know how long is a movie and how many pages a book is.
Is it a possible there is a site that gives you such estimates?
Time into the original Zelda

Re: Time into the original Zelda
Will you be using a guide?
If so - less than 10 hours
If not - forty plus

But if you don't like to use a guide at least get a map of the overworld. I had a hard time getting into the game by just wandering around.

yeah, Zelda is a rather long, involved game -- and it basically offers you no clues as to which is the "next" dungeon.
Link To The Past on the other hand gives you a map that shows you where each dungeon is with numbers indicating the order you should do them in.

I drew my own map - still got it - and found this an awesome way to get into the game and work out the puzzles. I'd say 20 hours if u draw your own map, although could easily be more - this game is a bit of a bitch later on.

Fastbilly is about right, though I think you can probably beat it under 40 hours your first time through, even without a guide. From what I know of you, you'll probably use a guide. If not, I will give you this information:
1. Unlike later Zelda games, there is no indication that certain places can be bombed or certain trees or bushes burned. You really do just have to bomb and burn around via trial and error, or educated guesses.
2. The only things that can be burned (other than enemies) are the trees/bushes in the overworld.
3. You can only bomb walls in the dungeons and cliffs or very large rocks in the overworld. Don't waste your bombs on the tiny, 16x16 pixel rocks that scatter the landscape.
4. You can sometimes push blocks in the dungeons and the tiny, 16x16 pixel rocks in the overworld. Do this.
5. If you find a guy in a cave who has a sword, but he says you are not experienced enough or something yet, that means you need more heart containers before you can get it.

I haven't played this game in so long, but just looking at this map has me craving it
