Modding a Model 1 Saturn?
Modding a Model 1 Saturn?
A guy who lives less than 20 minutes way from me is selling a model 1 saturn along with a bunch of extras at a really good price
and I'd like to go for it, but I don't want to swap discs constantly. How difficult is it to install a model 2 modchip in a model 1 saturn? Maybe someone with soldering skills could help me out?
Re: Modding a Model 1 Saturn?
There was a guide linked to the install guide for Racket's mod chip, it was to alter the chip to work in a model one. It involved cutting off one pin, cutting and rerouting traces on the PCB.

After looking at that mod again, it doesn't look too hard provided you have decent soldering skills. I would go with a lot smaller gauge that what is used in the picture to make life easier, I would go with 30 AWG. There really isn't too many reroutes you have to make, so it doesn't look too challenging.
