locked topics

are kind of a bummer. i don't check this board every day, and it would be nice to be able to weigh in on conversations before they are completely shut out. i dunno, i sometimes think the moderators are a bit lock-happy when it comes to certain issues. there are a lot of intelligent people here who have very different opinions, and we are all a group of peers and acquaintances that feel comfortable enough to espouse personal opinions about a variety of things. so why do certain topics of conversation get locked whenever the subject matter is deemed "too sensitive" or "off-topic" or whatever? i understand ending the thread if it just becomes an enormous flame war, but using egregious language towards another board member is what the warning system is for, or so i thought. i dunno. i'm sure it's a fine line to draw here in our little sandbox, but sometimes i think it could be a little less rigid. i can only make so many cute animals threads to keep myself intellectually stimulated here, dudes.

in before the lock...............J/K we should have a section like neo-geo.com where we can argue. I assume the the baby thread is what you're talking about. I agree I want to bash more on you know who, but I do like this website has a very friendly atmosphere unlike a lot of forums I am on. I feel this site even though small is a great community of people.

I think are mods just try to not let us go to far, but it sucks that a quite touching thread is now locked.

no, no, don't misunderstand me, i don't want to bash on inazuma or anyone else for that matter, but i would like the opportunity to prove them wrong, and to have myself be proven wrong. that's all.

Speaking for myself, I have no problem with a healthy exchange of ideas. However, I have seen enough threads where it's several people vs. Inazuma that I could see that the argument was going to go nowhere and we probably weren't too far from personal attacks.

You guys lucked out with that lock. I was about to post an in depth video from a Yale professor on the subject. Some may not like how crude or blunt I am so being able to hear the same arguments from a respected, polite researcher would have been nice.

No personal attacks from me. I have decided that I will only reply to Inazuma with the curious dog photo from now on. Besides, if you disagree with him it means you want to hurt kids. He is only out to protect children.

As long as this doesn't become like an imdb.com forum. I read some of the stupidest things I have ever read on that site.

There is a problem that I can vouch for in that sometimes an argument descends into the utterly ridiculous and it is hard for those who may have a rational point of view - even if arguing different views - not to get sucked in in an attempt to set things straight again. It ultimately ends up going in circles until one person says something completely over the top and everyone explodes. Since that has happened a lot recently - over the last few months - I think the mods are trying to step in ahead of time to sort of set an example before it gets that far. Because ultimately what happens is that idiot gets the last word and it is just not appropriate to let the thread continue and everyone who should not feel upset ends up feeling upset. I am surprised and embarrassed at some of the arguments I have gotten sucked into and kind of like that things have settled down lately.

Inazuma's post generally are fine but don't talk about marriage or kids he feels very strongly about those topics. Your right Mr.Popo it wasn't going to go anywhere. A lot of threads have the same dissagreement statements just posted by others which include myself. I personally was starting to get angry to the point I would call my fiance in to read the post. I don't think the post should have been locked though. I think you just wanted the last word mr.popo  J/K.
