Your opinion on computer games?
What is your opinion on computer games these days? I just bought PC versions of Dragon Age Orgins and Borderlands because they were on sale at Target for $40 plus I get a discount. Because of crazy DRM issues I think I might have just been better off getting the 360 versions. The thing is also, games seem to be made with console versions in mind so video games are not being pushed any further on the PC. They are made with 5 year old technology in mind. Mostly though I just hate DRM.
Re: Your opinion on computer games?
You might have luck using a no cd crack or similar to bypass the annoying DRM. This isn't to say you should pirate all the games however. I have borderlands on PC and thoroughly enjoy the tweaked graphics (if you have the appropriate PC) and usage of mouse. Sometimes the experience can just be better on pc than the console. Borderlands pc multiplayer leaves alot to be desired though, was built w/gamespy, and has been horribly useless (cannot join 90% of games, people can't join my games), though its been a few weeks since I played, maybe they have fixed it.

At least with Dragon Age: Origins you can definately see that BioWare kept in mind the differences between the PC and console platform. The UI for the PC isn't dumbed down in any way.

PC Games = Modding
PC Games = upgrading your video card to support a newer games (more money to lose)

Meh. I sit in front of my computer enough. I prefer to play any game on my tv. It's just nice putting the disc in, and having the game start. No system requirements, installation, drm, etc. I leave my computer to playing stuff like minesweeper (I'm here because I'm bored!), flash games, or making my own games.
Re: Your opinion on computer games?
I would love to play more computer games, but most don't support my OS.

I enjoy playing games on my computer over any console, that's just me though. Nothing beats the experience you can have with a wonderful office chair, desk, gaming computer, and a good sound system.
Not to mention a netbook can actually provide the most wonderful portable (but not pocket sized) gaming experience. Emulators even up to the Dreamcast will run on them. And you can easily get one for the price of a PSPGo

Older. Not wiser.

Anyone else getting tired of console-vs-PC arguments? Anyway here's my take on it: The genres that have defined PC gaming have withered and become niches since the advent of Quake, nowadays it seems most PC titles are ported to consoles (or as increasingly the case, ported from consoles to PC).. Publishers don't expect huge returns from PC ports (#1 to blame is Intel and their integrated chipset rubbish, the rest is debatable
) so developers can't bother to enhance the PC versions beyond their console counterparts. Perhaps it's time GPU manufacturers started some serious investment in gaming development itself!
Is it too early to expect cloud computing to take over the gaming industry, where the majority of consumers would be happy with "good enough" graphics? Or will there be a sustainable market for state-of-the-art polygon pushing machines that enthusiasts pour tons of money and effort into? I'm not worried by that.. Games need to mature one way or another. Way to go off tangent

Re: Your opinion on computer games?
Unfortunately computer games have stagnated. Most releases today are just ports of console games and unfortunately bad ports too in a lot of cases. Dragon Age was a refreshing change of this pattern. Good pc exclusives are became more rare and rare.
Most people would consider Crysis one of the better games graphically for the PC. That game is over two years old now. I think consoles have put a speed bump on graphics improving. Two years used to be an eternity in pc gaming. You could have an outdated machine very quickly. So the one good thing at least is all of us can catch up and be able to run Crysis at a decent fps lol.
I only play my consoles mainly for exclusives. If there is a cross platform game I will most of the time get the pc version unless it is a delayed release. Also sports games that I play against friends I will always buy console first.
