So back when MvC2came out for the PS3 network I got the case from Gamestop with the coupon code when I saw it. Didn't even know it existed at the time. I was in there and was like meh - ok that's cool I'll buy it.
Now I'm trying to find out if there are any other games for DL on the PS3 network that have been sold this way. Ie: with cases.
I really just want a Braid PS3 case...

Re: PS3 DL game cases
Man - I hate DLC. I'm so pissed this is the direction Sony is moving. All kids under 14 are stupid enough to buy into this electronic virtual copy of the game BS. In two or three years kids are going to be like, "Whow dude - what is that!? A cartridge? Wow, what a waste of space! Thats stupid that you needed that to play a game." Ok - maybe not.... but maybe.

Re: PS3 DL game cases
The closest to this is that in Europe, a lot of PSN games have been released on disc.
Then there was the Watchman Complete Experience, that had both episodes of Watchman: End is Nigh bundled with the Blu-Ray movie. (Great deal, considering GameStop was charging the same price for that as everywhere else was charging for the movie alone - even if the games aren't very good.)
I really wish we could see some PSN releases on disc in America. I really would like to have WipeOut HD on disc, as well as a PixelJunk Compilation. Capcom could do a great PSN compilation disc too, with games Bionic Commando Rearmed, Mega Man 9, Puzzle Fighter HD, Street Fighter HD, etc.
Sigh - why don't these guys ever think of the consumer? I can understand the developers for Braid and a few other games not making physical releases, but the big boys like Capcom really have no excuse.

Sigh, I really wish that Ratchet and Clank Future: Quest for Booty had a boxed release here in the US. I have it on my PS3, but I created a new PSN account (old name was stupid) and now I have to keep it there since I can't download it onto my new PSN account. Goddammit, I wouldn't be bitching about this if PSN would at least let you change your display name like Steam does.

Well, not really anything bad about it. If it was full games, then I'd be really pissed, but this is only DLC. I'm sure it doesn't cost anything extra, and it's just to have a case for your DLC games so you can still put something on the shelf.chupon wrote:Man - I hate DLC. Re: PS3 DL game cases
I never understood the point of selling the game case without a disc.
Are we supposed to just look at the artwork and jack off, or what?

*shrugs* It's kind of pointless if it doesn't come on a disc.Weekend_Warrior wrote:I never understood the point of selling the game case without a disc.

Re: PS3 DL game cases
Downloadable games suck. Boycott this distribution practice if you like to own games and not lease them. I like to have a some resale value on my games when I've played them to death, downloads simply don't offer that. Fuck downloadable shit, I'll pass thanks.
Re: PS3 DL game cases
I might not like digital distribution, but I still like the games. I like the games far more than anything at retail.
You just can't expect games like Echochrome, Critter Crunch, Castle Crashers and many others to release at retail and make a profit. It just won't work. They're creative, they have great gameplay and they aren't generic male power fantasies - that's three strikes against them at retail, dooming them to fail.
You gotta stop looking at it as if Digital Distribution was only made to screw you out of ownership. I didn't own any of the arcade machines that I endlessly dumped quarters into as a teenager, but that didn't make them any less fun.
