Favorite Video Game Cover Band?

Post by Space Paranoids »

A friend and I were talking about OC ReMix, and he recommended a track from the Neskimos. After searching around on Wikipedia, I found out a bit about some of the different video game bands that are out there.
What's your favorite source for good video game music? I've heard some good stuff from here and there, but I'm not sure where to go exactly for the cream of the crop.

I'm always on the fence regarding Neskimos. I love their style, but dammit, they need to finish those albums. I want to listen to their stuff properly, and not suffer their 128kbps, poorly-recorded tracks. Their Kirby and Metroid singles are tops. Brilliant stuff. I'm still waiting to hear a studio recording of their Super Mario 3 Suite.

MegaDiver also ranks. A little generic, but nothing to complain about.

Now, if this guy pops out a few more tracks that are as godly as his last few, he may well become my favorite game music cover artist ever.

Meanwhile, XOC remains a god as well. His Super Mario World album is beautiful.

I like the Black Mages. Final Fantasy covers with a lot of electric guitars.

You do realize The Black Mages was produced by Uematsu himself, right? I guess it still technically counts as a cover band, but really, it's Uematsu covering his own stuff, lol.

Yeah I am aware. I agree they aren't a coverband in the fullest sense of the term but I still enjoy it.
