Any Tournament Style fighting games on the Saturn?

Post by newt42 »

In Super Smash Bros Melee and Brawl, you were given the option to theoretically have up to 32 real people participate in a tournament style multiplayer match. Was anything like this put into a Sega Saturn 2D or 3D fighter game, considering the existing 10 player games.

In case you were wondering, I have been asking a lot of Saturn questions lately because I am looking into buying a Sega Saturn. I am currently building a list of "To Be Purchased" games.
Systems: SNES, PS1, GBA SP, Gamecube, DS Lite, Wii, PS3 (Fully Backwards Compatible), Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, a Sega CD, and a Sega Saturn.

Guardian Heroes is a well-known gem for the Sega Saturn which supports 6-player versus battles.

And while it's by no means an out-and-out fighting game, a 10-player Saturn Bomberman battle would be epic fun (I've only managed a 6-player one myself, but it was one HELL of a time).

Definitely look into getting Guardian Heroes... I would go as far as saying, "if you can only own one game for the Sega Saturn, make it this one."

I would recommend Guardian Heroes as well. It's more of a beat 'em up, but it is an absolute classic. I actually own two loose copies, for whatever reason.

I think Keriotosse! (plays like powerstone) Bomberman Fight and Ultimate Mortal Kombat had tournament modes.

Keriotosse! actually isn't too bad. There aren't many moves but there are quite a few characters to choose from and the special moves allow for some degree of strategy.

Of course I'm also going to agree with all of the recommendations for Guardian Heroes. I know there is at least one person around here who will tell you it's overrated, but in my opinion it deserves every bit of praise it's ever received and then some.

Damm, I have never played it, looked it up and it looks bad ass. Feel free to sell me one of those copies.

Fighters Megamix is THE tournament fighter on the Saturn.

It's the closest we'll ever get to Sega having made their own version of Smash Bros.
My Consoles:
Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS
