Advice when buyers want to use Deputy Services on eBay.

Post by corn619 »

Well, my Dreamcast Dev Kit sold for $356.00USD on eBay. The guy who bought it lives belgium and wants to use a deputy service to ship it to his country. I emailed him saying I'll ship it to the deputy service in Ohio with shipping confirmation and insurance and thats where my responsibility ends.

I've never dealt with one these services and was wondering if I should be worried about possible issues when dealing with deputy sevices, international buyers and big dollar items. Is there anything I should be wary about in order to not get screwed on ebay when dealing with these services and international buyers? Any experiences doing this anyone? I don't really use eBay that often and would like to avoid issues if possible.

While i've never used a Deputy Service for selling things, I do however use them constantly for buying things. From my experiences I can tell you the ones i've dealt with are completely safe. In fact I trust them more than I do the sellers in most cases. The ones i've dealt with have absolute fantastic communication, and ship the items beautifully (they rewrap all the items I buy in their own bubble wrap plus add newspaper). I have never had a broken, or lost item on their part.

The one time I did have something go wrong was I paid them for an auction via paypal, and later found out they double charged my credit card. But after a quick email they noticed the mistake and refunded me the money.

Don't know what the definition of a deputy service is, but if its a service just for shipping from seller's country to buyer's far away country then its what I use. Been doing it for years, its the only safe and cost effective way to ship anything from the US and even use it for things from Hong Kong or Japan because shipping is usually faster and more reliable.

You the seller probably have nothing to worry about just making sure you insure it and provide a delivery confirmation, which in case something happens would be the proof the buyer can use to make any claim with their service. The only bad experience I had with one of these services was a lost package for some car parts (usually geniune parts are priced 3 times more of what they really cost at the dealer here) and both the us dealer and usps proved that it was delivered but the local shipping service didn't recognize this and did not help me in any way but that made me realize the problem was their bad organization and service. Jeez... needed to get that out.... lol
