Why do flea market vendors price so much!!!!

Post by mas »

I just came back from a flea market and i was just amazed at the prices of so of their s..t they were selling. One lady who looked liked she knew nothing about video games proved me wrong. I saw a bunch of misc stuff from different systems up front then she had a table in the back that held the gems of snes genesis and psone nes etc. There i found nes games that i was looking for and snes games, the old lady ran to me like i stole something and was asking what game i was looking for? I told her i wanted the ghost n goblins for the nes bubble bobble and super contra she told me they all are 25-30 dollars a piece!!!!! Wow this girl does realize its 2009 and not 1989? I also saw a couple other vendors selling crap games for the genny like x-men and altered beast for ten a piece some ps2 games for 25 dollars a piece and they were games like dead to rights and need for speed hot pursuit and other crappy games. The best one was a original xbox one controller no games 100.00 dollars Wtf I had to ask her whats with the price she said that's how much they go for at gamestop and i told her they don't even take xbox systems and games anymore and they sell xbox systems for 40-50 dollars and she told me to get away from her table and that i don't know what i was talking about and you don't like it don't buy it!!! Fine by me buddy. I just want to know something is this how these people make money? do they have a real job during the week or is this it? Its a flea market grant it i understand you have to compete with ebay but cmon make the price reasonable don't go by the highest price on ebay. I used to love flea markets because you would find a deal and sometimes people are there just to get rid of things but VENDORS DONT RIP PEOPLE OFF NO MORE!!!!!! That's why no one goes to these things anymore

I agree that the local flea markets around here do almost the same thing.
Most of the sellers think because the console came out in the 80's or early 90's that all games are classic and charge at least $10 a piece per game.

*oh, and I moved this from the B/S/T forum here since you weren't selling anything.

Paragraphs and grammar are your friends. I stopped half way through your post because it's just gibberish.

Well, I think we can all agree that retro gaming has been coming back in a big way. But charging any more than $10 for an NES game, SNES, or Genesis game that isn't complete or super rare is just wrong. Especially in this bad economy

I would say those two games are worth $10 each. Thats a good deal at $5 for both.

Yup, there doesn't seem to be much middle ground at flea markets. Either you score a super bargain, or things are overpriced. When I finally made it to a flea market here the other weekend I picked up Castlevania for $3. Not too bad for a bare cart that cleaned up nicely. Then there was the game store that even had the loose Atari 2600 carts set to $5. One might buy a good game like River Raid or Kaboom for that price if you're desperate, but nobody is going to buy most games much less Pac-Man for that price. They did have some boxed stuff in nice shape, but pretty much everything was overpriced.
