Re: IGN's Top 25 Xbox 360 Games
For anyone who doesn't want to click through 5 pages for 5 games, with an additional page of adds that you have to skip...
25: dead space
24: Lost odyssey
23: dead rising
22: Shadow Complex
21: NHL 10
dead space is one of my favorite games on the 360. Absolutely fantastic design and mood all the way through. Really interesting combat and weapons. Just a great ride. It is one of these games that i wish i could play for the first time all over again.
Never played lost odyssey
Dead Rising never captured me the way it did everyone else. I found once i got into the game and played the missions that the bosses were CRAZY hard for no reason. Plus, most people that i would rescue would never properly defend themselves. It seemed like they would just plow strait into zombies without a care in the world. Both of these things made for a very unsatisfying experience. I hope that capcom changes these mechanics in the sequel. The one thing that was very satisfying is being able to use anything and everything as a weapon. Fun for a day, but overall kinda bored me.
Never played shadow complex. It is up my ally though, and I've been meaning to try it. Seems like IGN threw this on to just kind of be like "hey! Downloadable games! This is a well rounded list!"
Absolutely no desire to play NHL 10.
So far kind of a shitty and predictable list imho.

Re: IGN's Top 25 Xbox 360 Games
The thing about Dead Space is that it didn't really bring anything new to the table. It just had a better atmosphere and story than the recent RE games, but as far as gameplay goes, it was an RE4/RE5 clone. Plus, it's kind of repetitive. Enemy comes at you, slice off a body part, shoot it till it's dead. Rinse, repeat for next encounter. If your aim is bad, use that slowdown power on it so you have more time. Inevitably the game sends more enemies at you and you'll inevitably take damage, but there's plenty of healing items in the game so it didn't matter. I don't know, combat was too easy I guess and you never felt like you were in REAL danger. The fact that you could play through the whole game with the plasma cutter for an achievement really shows how shallow the combat is that you don't even NEED the other weapons, but that's sort of the problem with all gun based games. I mean I'm watching an Uncharted 2 playthrough on youtube and as incredible as everything else in the game is, the gun based combat is the same as every other game out there. You take some cheap hits, get behind cover til your health comes back, pop up, shoot some baddies while you take more cheap, unavoidable hits, pop down, heal, yadda, yadda, boring. To date, I don't think ANY game captures the feel of a REAL gunfight where bullets ACTUALLY HURT YOU!! A game where you are not the freaking Terminator and don't just shrug off bullets. That's sort of my beef with ALL shooters out there.
Sorry, went off on a rant there.
I agree with you on Dead Rising, though I still managed to enjoy it. Personally, I don't like how they made such a big deal about all the weapons when only a handful were strong enough to be worth carrying around.

I thought it was traditional to wait for the next generation to come out before you start naming top N games from a console.

Modern Warfare should be rated better than most of the games on that list. Except for Fifa 10, cause Fifa owns!!!!

I already know # 3, 2, and 1.

Re: IGN's Top 25 Xbox 360 Games
Yeah right, hashiriya. You know they won't even think about those three(even if they are awesome games). I'm wondering when Halo 3 will pop up, though I figure it'll probably be either their number 1 or in the top 3.
The only titles that have surprised me on their list have been Virtua Fighter 5 and Geometry Wars, and from what I'd heard folks say about Geometry Wars, I'm not all that surprised. I just don't run into many VF fans these days, so seeing it get some love is nice. The last time I had a conversation on VF5, it went something like this:
Me: I enjoy Virtua Fighter 5. The VF series is great.
Other guy: But SF IV was so amazing awesome! Why would you want to play Virtua Fighter?
Me: Because I have better taste.
I don't think they spoke to me again.

I have go disagree with your list, hashiriya1. Horis are by definition inferior to verts, so Death Smiles must come in third.
