I personally didn't get too far in it, but I was pretty impressed other than the load times.
I didn't realize it, but the Dreamcast version was actually based on the High-Resolution Pack:

I don't know about you, but there was a very weird feeling the first time I saw Half-Life running on the Dreamcast
(I can still remember where I was when I read that it was canceled)
What did you think of Half-Life for the Dreamcast?
Yeah, the two main selling points of that game were going to be the inclusion of an exclusive expansion, Blue Shift, and the inclusion of the HDR pack.
But no, I still wasn't impressed by it. It needed a lot more polish to truly take advantage of DC. Have you tried the PS2 version? I admit, it's pretty impressive. Or rather, it was at the time, because PS2 was pushed much further as the years went on.

Nope, never played the PS2 version, but i would guess it was better.Mozgus wrote:Yeah, the two main selling points of that game were going to be the inclusion of an exclusive expansion, Blue Shift, and the inclusion of the HDR pack.

i acutally heard that there was two versions for the Dreamcast. One that was based on the Windows CE framework (which was the one leaked) and a more optimized version that was based on the Dreamcast's native hardware.

It's pretty much a solid 60 fps on PS2 and it has a lot of content in the co-op mode which has never made it's way to any other platform. Plus, the dual analog setup was much better than using face buttons to move.racketboy wrote:Nope, never played the PS2 version, but i would guess it was better.

I thouroughly enjoyed half life dc. Just the long and frequent load times [over time] pissed me off. Honestly, though, it was my first and only time playing half life. And I have yet to play another version of it. That aside, the game I thought was pretty damn awesome. And I was/am impressed how good/fun the game is even till today in the age of gow cod3 and halo2.
