Reggie also made a bold challenge to Infinity Ward: He predicted that New Super Mario Bros. Wii will outsell Modern Warfare 2 on Xbox 360 by the end of the holiday season.

"Absolutely. I say that unequivocally," Reggie proclaimed. He did issue the caveat that they'll only compare sales of Modern Warfare 2 on the 360 and not the 360, PS3, and PC combined for this unofficial challenge, but it's a rather bold claim nevertheless. "Let's take it all the way through the January NPD data -- yes. I'll put that stake in the ground."

The gauntlet has been thrown. Let's see how the numbers pan out. And let's laugh at the people in the comments who seem to see this as a challenge to their gamerhood.

i think there's a chance that mw2 might outsell new super mario bros for the holidays, but not in the long run, at all. i think its because mario games are kinda more timeless and overall more accessible, and kind of the go-to games for nintendo consoles. where with mw2, though apparently its superior then every other fps for some reason, its still just an fps, and since those are a dime a dozen these days it just seems like it wont age as well as mario games do. this is all just my opinion.
