So I was at my local Play and Trade at lunch...Site Related
Great way to start a topic eh. Well I was talking to the owner, who is a friend of mine (for the locals this Dave’s store at Peachtree Corners aka the store toredauei works at). I went to scan the SNES and Atari stuff but also to pay for the New Mario Bros and Phantasy Star Zero (just to make sure my copies come in on time). Well Dave was on edge since apparently the region manager and the CEO were on their way. Even though they are franchises one owner is a region manager who is supposed to help the other stores promote and some other such stuff.
Well a few minutes later none other than Larry Plotnic walks in. They talked shop with Dave for alittle while the other guy on the clock was checking me out the owner turns and asks what I was reserving. I told him Mario and he was kinda glossy, then I said Phantasy Star Zero and he perked up. He said “you can always tell how hardcore a gamer is by what they reserve.” And well yall know I cant have an opening like that and not take it. So I told him I don’t believe in a hardcore demographic rather that I prefer the games that most gamers consider impossible. He asked what console I had and I gave him a truncated list then told him I was looking for a Vectrex if he knew where I could get one for a good deal. I then I popped a Racketboy card out of my wallet and said, give us a look up. The other guy with him had heard of us but never been, and Dave stated that when he had a stack out apparently lots of people knew what the site was. He seemed genuinely interested and put the card in his shirt pocket.
So who knows fellas, Larry Plotnic, the CEO of Play and Trade and former SVP of Game Crazy may be joining us in the future. I just thought it was worth noting that he was a gamer. We often forget that those who are high up on the food chain are still just regular folks. They enjoy the same beer and Warlords the rest of us do – ok maybe that’s just me and my friends. You get my point.

But yeah, the more the merrier. I also need to get one of those Racketboy cards.

Cool. If he comes around, Nick or someone should try to get an interview with him. How did you recognize him? Not someone I would know by sight.

The last time I was in that store there wasn't much retro games. Only notable games I saw was Xenogears and a boxed copy of Spider-man Seperation Anxiety for the snes. They have a lot less SNES games then they use to. That location seems the only location doing promotions though. When I asked if one of the employees knew what racketboy was and showed them the card they said it was some video game store selling stuff.
Where's my chippy? There's my chippy.

Radarscope - Ill be honest, I had to look up his name. I would not have known him if he was not pointed out to me.
Pephary - true their retro stuff fluctuates a good bit, but I can go on lunch (in that I work a good minute from there - same with zarathusa). Right now their notables are BoF1&2 for the SNES loose and a boxed Killer Instinct. A couple weeks ago they had FF2, FF3, FFMQ, Chrono Trigger, Mario RPG, and a host of other RPGs, all in the box, complete, and looking like they just came off of a store shelf. I was pissed when I walked in and saw Chrono Trigger walking out...But the guy thinking Racketboy was a store selling is just silly. Why would one game store promote another in their store? Well I can think of reasons, but that is not the point.
Modman - we are not selling out. But if someone shows up at your door with a dumptruck full of money, how can you say no? Remember CjayC said he would never sell out Gamefaqs, now it is owned by Gamespot.
In all seriousness, as far as I know the site is not for sale.
