Grand Theft Auto IV Time Lapsed

Post by J T »

It is impressive how much detail went into making GTA IV appear to be a real city inhabited by people. Cars follow traffic laws, shadows stretch as the sun moves overhead, citizens stop and chat and go home. This time-lapsed video really drives that home:

I think it's pretty cool that they actually took the time to put that much detail into making the city appear to be "real". The city will do what it normally does if you stand there and watch it. While GTA IV wasn't my favorite of the series, it definitely set the bar high for open world/city games... plus the new graphics engine blew the old one of the water

Very impressive. I remember the early trailers for this game featured a similar time lapse scale, but nothing to the effect of this video. R* definitely should be commended if for nothing else than being able to create a nearly perfect living, breathing city.
