X-Arcade Tankstick adapter now available for the X-Box 360

Post by fedexin »

Hey there, I just received an email from X-Arcade:

"We are pleased to finally announce Xbox 360™ support for the X-Arcade™ Joystick with a new adapter shipping November 5th. You can now use your X-Arcade™ to dominate your favorite arcade and fighting games on your 360™.

While we have not obtained approval for a directly-connected device, you can use any Playstation 2 adapter and a Wired Xbox 360™ Gamepad to legally comply with Microsoft's end user license. The adapter will also allow you to connect any Playstation 2™ game controller or device with your Xbox 360™"

Sounds great! I've modded the tankstick (read; took it completely apart) to make a MAME machine before, and it's a nice set of components in a nice layout. Not very trick looking, but very solid.

This isn't the first time I've seen this wired controller bypass method. Am I the only one who finds it depressing that people have to jump through hoops like that to get their controller working on a 360?

Actually, they re-purposed their PS2 adapter: http://www.xgaming.com/htm/x-arcade-pla ... pter.shtml

Kinda lame, but still, a workaround. I agree, it's depressing.

Yeah, I just got this e-mail myself. I still don't understand why it is taking the X-Gaming crew so long to get this licensed by Microsoft.

Because Microsoft are dicks. What else is there to understand?

It actually isn't licensed by MS! They had to work around that issue by using their PS2 adapter. Truly lame on MS's part, but I'm glad we have options now. I for one really like X-Arcade's products, and their service is really good as well. I fried a controller board during a mod, and they sent me a new one, no questions asked.

Now to build a SF4 machine.... =)

Hmm... I wonder what kind of lag is experienced using this method. I doubt the result will be spot on, instant input.

Almost sounds like connecting a Playstation controller through a Playstation to Saturn adapter and then running that through a Sega Saturn to Dreamcast adapter.

X-arcade has a reputation for being a little laggy unfortunately.
