JUST REPLACED 72-PIN CONNECTOR NOW WONT WORK HAAAALP!!!

On two systems, one mine and one my friends who I promised nothing bad would happen. Put both systems back together and now the loader doesnt want to spring back up when pressed on. Its stuck in the bottom position and wont move even if forced. Can anybody save my ass?

When you put a NES back together, you have to be careful when sliding the tray assembly back on the board. You have to slide it partway onto the cart connector, then there's that tab that slides under the front edge of the circuit board. Carefully undo one and take the tray off. Make sure it will go up and down when not on the board, then try again. Once you get it, give the other a shot.

Yup, follow Hobie's instructions and just backtrack all of the steps until you find your error.

I took the systems apart again, and while undoing one of the screws holding the loader it poped back up again. When I tightened it back I noticed it was warping the plastic, not being ridiculously tight just screwing them in. The screws arent on perfectly but the system is not loose, it plays, and springs up and down every time. Do you think I should figure it out or just leave as is?

Try to screw each screw in a little bit at a time slowly tightening around then perimeter of the connector until you get a nice even fit that doesn't warp the plastic but isn't loose.

Im just going to leave them a little untightened because they work and feel fine. Oh well Nintendo sorry if I did something wrong

Here's the board flipped over with and without the bottom shield, with the tab I'm talking about. You have to pull a bit for it to go over the board properly instead of being on the wrong side.


Make sure you put the screws in the right place too for the tray. There are 4 brass and 2 silver screws. The longer silver screws need to be in the right place.

Ah hah! I completely forgot that the tray actually hooks under the board in that spot. I need to open my NES and fix that. Right now if I slam it hard I can get carts to go down and come back up, but it's obviously less than ideal.

You have to pull a bit for it to go over the board properly instead of being on the wrong side.

When I replaced my 72pin, I didn't slide the board under the lil plastic lip either. The plastic of my connector was warped and I had the same "slamming" issue Mr. Popo has. Just take it apart and check the connector and the main board to make sure they are correctly put together.
