Firstly- sorry for the bad photos. And a lot of my collection isn't pictured here. I just wanted to show some broad strokes.
So i've moved to a new house last month. It is a bit smaller, but i am finally living alone. Because of this a lot of retro gaming stuff, and fat of the collections has been boxed up. Anything that can be easily emulated is getting stored for when i can move into a bigger place when i make a bit more money.
For now- lets hope these boxes, and 3 others like them, eventually see the light of day.
But..... if the systems had some kind of odd retro appeal that is pre NES, I didn't have the heart to box them. I had an extra set of shelves that weren't being used in the kitchen so they went up there. They don't really get played much anyway, but like i said... that have that odd appeal so I can't bear to part with them
BUT! that is not what you came to see! That is the warm up act!
Here is what is plugged into the fucking wall! Not pictured is a behind the scenes Ethernet swtichbox so everything can be on the same network, and an auto switchbox for the consoles plugged into the tube TV. You know- behind the scenes stuff.

Re: nickfil's new setup
and now for the games...
I managed to cut down the collection into storage enough so that i can fit everything i need into a nice set of shelves and not have too much fat. I wanted to leave some space, and if i need some i'll pull the arcade sticks and guns out the bottom (and put them into storage with the other guns and sticks! ugh). SO, i can make some space for new games on the fly.
Here is a color coated breakdown of stuff...

Nice setup! I also really like the two TV setup that you use. Those switch boxes must really help with wire clutter too. Out of curiosity, why two 360s?
I like the color coded pic of your games to show what is what, that was pretty cool.
It's sad that you have to box away some of your consoles. I'm in the same position right now, so I feel your pain!

Very nice. Where did you find shallow cabinets with doors?
Also I'm jealous of Quest for the Rings and the Vectrex.

like you would not believe. If anyone has over 6 consoles, you gotta pick up a switchbox. IMHOjfe2 wrote:Nice setup! I also really like the two TV setup that you use. Those switch boxes must really help with wire clutter too.
Getting more than one person online! Networking them together and getting some 4 player games. I'm looking forward to left 4 dead and getting 3 friends over and going through some of the campaigns.jfe2 wrote:Out of curiosity, why two 360s?
A second ps2 is on the horizon for me too.
I have a second saturn for this same reason. Getting some networked sega racing going. Unfortunately, no room...
IKEA! You have to grab the doors seperate. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20134046Hobie-wan wrote:Very nice. Where did you find shallow cabinets with doors?

Funny thing- the vectrex was given to me by a buddy who heard i like videogames. It is something that i would never buy off ebay due to the weight of it and the fragile nature. I had kind of reserved myself to never owning one, but some days things just fall in your lap.

Re: nickfil's new setup
Ah, probably why I hadn't seen them with doors. I want to keep stuff from fading and tone down the cluttered look just a bit. Though I'm in a carpeted apartment, so not being able to put big holes in the wall to secure them and a squishy floor might be too much of a problem. But thanks for the info.nickfil wrote:IKEA! I know how that goes. I seem to inspire people to give things to me. Best thing that I ever got was from a customer at an old job I had. He was one of our best customers and came in all the time. We'd always be talking about stuff for at least an hour every time he came in and I was always nerding it up about game stuff. He brought in his old CDX and gave it to me because he never played it anymore.Funny thing- the vectrex was given to me by a buddy who heard i like videogames. Your SNES collection is weak. But nice setup otherwise.

I try to not pick up retro games unless i find them in the wild and for whatever reason, i rarely come across snes stuff. Just luck of the draw. Over and over. I think it just goes fast. The snes is one of those systems that is timeless and everyone loves so i have more competition in finding carts.
And, in all fairness here... I'm more of a player than collector. I have snes stuff running on my wii, xbox, and pc.
