beaterator vs korgDS

Post by nickfil »

If i was going to start to dive into one of the two, which is the better?
Or rather, which is easier to use as a total novice...

Anyone using either of them? Thoughts?

I haven't used beaterator, but I have used Korg DS, and it's awesome. I'm a total synth-noob, though I do have some (very amateur) musical "skills" and I found it pretty easy to use. There's plenty of tutorials on the web, especially on YouTube, very helpful stuff.

Also it has a Kaoss Pad for both synths, which is really easy to use, and fun as hell. It totally makes you sound like you've been using synths since before you could walk. You really have to try it to see what I'm talking about, but it's awesome.

So yeah my pick: Korg DS.

Korg DS all the way. Then get four DS and chain them togther to make a masterpiece.
The touch screen gives it an advantage over Beaterator PSP but its a different beast you want dance trance and synths sounds go with the Korg you want an urban beat machine get Baterator. I use the Ds korg to add sythes to my music I record.

My DS-10 is on my forever pile of 'I'll get to it someday'. I'm sure there are a ton of these sorts of things floating around, but here's an 'album' of songs from DS-10 Dominator.

not that you all haven't swayed me, but i think i'm going to go with beaterator before korg. I just think beaterator is more up my ally of the type of stuff i want to make.

plus, while drunk the songs that were linked involving korg made me fearfull. FEARFULL.

dude i had beaterator for about 3 days

the UI in beaterator is so cluttered i cant find any usability in it.
plus all the loops and instrument samples fucking suck

i hate the snares
i hate the kicks
i hate all the samples

timbaland is a crappy producer anyway.

i dont have DS-10 but i would highly recommend that

Well if you've got a PSP you can probably give Beaterator a bit of a trial run via .iso. A few people here have mentioned problems with its interface and usability, which may or may not be correlated to the lack of a touch screen. If you try it, like the idea of the program, but not the implementation, than take your money to Nintedo for KorgDS. If you try Beaterator and it fits your needs, then go ahead and buy a copy. Seems like a win-win situation that way.

funny- i thought the same thing only swapped. My problem is that everything i hear come out of korg has this SUPER electronic sound. Now i know we are using computers here and not actual instruments, but it seems really hard to get away from that and have any kind of organic interesting sound.

vice versa

It is really difficult to make beaterator not sound like timberland.

And thats why, you should get it. I got a copy of the game, its really fun to play with, but for me, i would need time to spend to have fun with it...
