Best light gun for the Dreamcast?

Post by jfe2 »

I finally picked up a Dreamcast and I want to grab House of the Dead II and Confidential Mission. I've done a bit of research on the light guns that are available, but I haven't really gotten the feel for what people consider the overall best one to use. I know the official one is supposedly the best, but it won't work on American games, so unfortunately that's out of the question.

Anyone have any suggestions? I just don't want to invest money in a crap light gun.

The Mad Catz gun is the equivalent of the official gun (same design and even has the Dreamcast swirl on the side) and as far as I know is the best American gun.

As far as I understand the Dream Blaster is the best American light gun. Hell, Sega licensed the thing. The design is similar, but definitely not the same. The auto-reload means that you'll actually be able to beat House of the Dead 2, I suppose.

The official light guns don't work on American games (except Virtua Cop 2), but do work on American consoles. There aren't any problems using them if you import the games as well. Just saying  .

Yeah, the official JPN guns are the best, but the Dream Blaster was ok if you only want to buy domestically.

I'm assuming that its cheaper to get a Dream Blaster too. I'll probably just do that, especially since I'll probably end up only getting two games that are actually compatible with the light guns. Thanks for the help guys!

I did research for this a while back and it pointed for the mad catz gun.

Take a look at my WTB thread, there was someone selling me a couple of boxed guns when I already bought one.

If you use one of those PSX to DC controller plugs, could you use a Guncon 1 with a DC?
