First and foremost- i don't like to pirate games that i can still be able to buy new. Reason is, if i get it and LOVE the game I always tell myself i'm actually going to buy a copy because it is so good but never do. And then i feel a little guilty every time i replay it. When the game is mediocre i don't feel as bad. heh.
I have a two 360 consoles. They are going to be networked for the first time in the near future. With the alarming lack of split screen co-op and my fierce enjoyment of it, i was going to pick up some games that are networked co-op, and system link co-op. Trouble is, i don't really want to pick up 2 copies of the same game no matter how good.
So i was thinking of getting the older xbox modded to play burns.
In order to shut the guilt up a little... is this legal? Like- if I had a legit copy of fable 2, and a burn so that i could play with a friend is that ok? I don't want natal to see my guilt and email my information to Peter Molyneux.

You will burn in hell for crimes against humanity.
Don't let any company fool you into making you feel sorry for them.
ef.you.see.k. the entire industry, who only want to milk us and threat us like idiots.
Don't ever feel guilty. They have raped us over so many times. copy dl, burn whatever you want. If anybody says different, they need to mind their own damned business.
I actually do not own any copies anymore, but I would not feel bad at all if I did.

Re: piracy ethical question re:xbox360
well i believe it is legal
because it is legal to make backups of games you own in order to play them on hardware you own, so i can't see how this isn't legal.
you own both 360's and a real copy of the game, it should be legal, but it will nonetheless still void any warranty but if its old then its already gone.

Re: piracy ethical question re:xbox360
Just to clear up the air a bit: Games that are still on the shelf i don't really want to pirate because chances are if i like the game, i want the studio to make more games like it. Plus, i am sure that the company is getting whatever cut they get out of a game sale. It isn't about being dicked around by companies or anything like that. If i feel dicked around by a company, i don't buy something. Simple as that. What i don't mind pirating and do completely 100% guilt free are original xbox titles and back. Stuff you can only find used. The creative studio that made the game doesn't know if i bought it or not in that transaction, so you know... fuck it. Pirate.
I'm also not really afraid of getting caught. The fear of that isn't what curbs my piracy. Making great games that i want to buy makes me stop pirating.
plus, i voided the warranty when i fixed it myself.

yeah- it is really old. No hdmi port on it, so it might be one of the first few generations. Only reason i want to hang onto it is because i think it is in the minority of 360 consoles that won't red ring. If it was going to, figure it would be now.Tercoil wrote:it should be legal, but it will nonetheless still void any warranty but if its old then its already gone.

A)i was pretty sure i wasn't going to go to hell for it, just asked if it was legal. B)The original post was never about me feeling sorry for companies or being treated like an idiot. There was so much venom in your own post man. For your own sanity's sake, take it down a notch.d123456 wrote:You will burn in hell for crimes against humanity.

funny- i was thinking of getting an old fat ps2 and doing the same thing even though i already own almost all the ps2 games i want.the7k wrote:I own plenty of bootlegged copies of PS2 games that I also own as factory-sealed real copies. I call it "Having my cake and eating it too."
i would say that it depends on your own personal morals. Probably socially acceptable.Curlypaul wrote:I dont think that it is legal no, but morrally acceptable? I think so

It's legal in Canada, but it seems that you're from the City of Brotherly Love. I'm pretty sure the only Canadians there play for the Flyers. I have no idea if it's legal or not in The US.

They actually renicknamed our city "the city that loves you back" rather than brotherly love. I'm assuming they thought it was too gay.Breetai wrote:It's legal in Canada, but it seems that you're from the City of Brotherly Love. I'm pretty sure the only Canadians there play for the Flyers. And yes, we import Canadians only for hockey. Even in that instance, they are forced to bend to our laws.
Re: piracy ethical question re:xbox360
Really? That's... just not cool. It literally means "City of Brotherly Love" in Greek. How can something talking about brother love from Greece ever been considered gay? They actually renicknamed our city "the city that loves you back" rather than brotherly love. Of course moral acceptance is completely subjective, and you did seem to be asking for opinions. Personally I agree with your outlook on pirate games - buying new games ensures that people will still make them. In this situation you have purchased a game so the developers have their reward. I think its perfectly reasonable to make a copy and play it, but I dont think the law agrees.nickfil wrote:i would say that it depends on your own personal morals. General social morals on the subject of pirating seems to run along the lines of 'companies owe it to me to spend their time and money producing games/films/entertainment that I have the right to enjoy for free'. I wholly dissagree with this outlook
