I was thinking about how much I love "Tecmo Bowl: Kick Off" for my DS. I think that it is a game I will play for years and years because it doesn't have real rosters and teams. I spent about 30 minutes changing the team names and colors to match the NFL, and thats it. I now have a game with a roster that will never get outdated.
I know there are other games out there without real rosters like Baseball Stars.
So my question is this: Are there any sport games without "real" rosters that you still play?
For me I still play "Tecmo Bowl: Kick Off," "NCAA 2K2," "Baseball Stars," and "NHL94" (I know it has rosters, but I know nothing about the NHL so I can't tell that it's outdated.)

Not really a real sports game, but Firepro Wrestling for the GBA fits the description. Its a really fun game that was underrated, probably because its a wrestling game.

The Mario sports games. I enjoy them a lot more than most realistic sports titles. Regadless, I'm not too concerned about updated rosters. One of my favorite sports game franchises was the NBA 2K series, mainly becuase I could create ridiculous super deformed players. Unfortunately the character creation system has more realistic parameters now.

Wow, all that pretty much encapsulates my sports game philosophy to the letter.General Chaos wrote:The Mario sports games. I enjoy them a lot more than most realistic sports titles. One other thing though: NFL Blitz.

I would agree other than the fact that like NBA Jam they used real players... I never played Blitz The League though.Dylan wrote: One other thing though: NFL Blitz.

Yeah, The League didn't have real teams, but I guess mentioning the whole series based on that is kind of dishonest.SpaceBooger wrote:I would agree other than the fact that like NBA Jam they used real players... I never played Blitz The League though.

Hmmm, one game I still play to this day that hasn't been mentioned is NHL Hitz 20-03 (planning on getting NHL Hitz Pro soon). Great action oriented sports game play that you can enjoy with yourself or with friends. Create teams, players, etc... I highly recommend it as I stay away from mainsteam/sports sims usually.

Ken Griffey for the SNES. Aside from the titular player the roster is entirely made-up people. The fields are official though.

Mutant league hockey for the genesis.
