As I touched on in my recent articles, I'm a big fan of the Bonus Rounds (especially in Sonic 2) and the Dr. Robotnik boss battles.
I love to see how quick I can finish off the boss.
It's also fun to rack up the rings and see how many lives I can finish with.
What Are Your FAVORITE Parts About The Old Sonic Games?
Man, I remember that level being so frustrating the first couple times I played it.risk wrote:chemical plant zones in sonic 2 = best lvl ever. even the music.
Now I almost have Sonic 2 memorized

Lets see this might be a bit of a list but here it goes.
Sonic 1: Springyard Zone and Starlight Zone, all time favorites.
Sonic 2: Loved the Bonus Stage, Aquatic Ruin Zone, Casino Night Zone
Sonic 3 & Knuckles: Ice Cap Zone, Fighting Robotnik at Launch Base, Mushroom Hill Boss, Lava Reef Zone, Sky Sanctuary Zone, Doomsday Zone.
Sonic CD: The entire game.
Everything else is somewhat minor to me. I liked the newer games for the most part but they certainly were not what the old games were and thats just plain fun. As for battle between the greatest zones it's between Casino Night, Stardust Speedway, Sky Sanctuary, Lava Reef, and Starlight. Of course I also loved fighting Robotnik's various machines but I also liked the very rare metal Sonic fight, something about that was always appealing to me.

The very first time I popped a Genesis cart in my new console and heard the word: SEGA. I was blown away that the game talked and I kept pressing the reset button a few times to hear it again and again. I guess the true sense of speed of the 16 bit era Sonic games is what I like most. As a side note, do not waste your money on that crappy new port of the original Sonic The Hedgehog that was just made for the Gameboy Advance. It suffers from some of the worst slowdown issues I have ever seen in a game. It is totally unplayable!
