Okay, so I saved my first Dreamcast, bought on 9/9/99 for sentimental reasons. It has severe problems with powering up; I'll turn it on and four seconds later it turns itself back off - I'll try powering it on again and nothing happens, then I'll leave it in my closet for two or three years and the cycle repeats. So around midnight 9/9/09 I decide to grab my launch Dreamcast out of my closet since it's his birthday more so than my replacement Dreamcast. I grab the copy of Sonic Adventure that I bought on launch day and put it in for entirely sentimental reasons; I really just wanted to see my beloved, barely-there Dreamcast shine its orange glow upon me as it did a decade ago.
But instead of fizzling out four seconds after I turn it on, the Dreamcast chugs right along. I set the date to 9/9/09 as a means to say "Happy Birthday", assuming it's mere seconds away from blacking out again. But miraculously, my little Dreamcast doesn't quit. I start up a new game of Sonic Adventure as I did a decade ago, watch those tremendously cheesy little cut-scenes, defeat Chaos 0, and speed all the way through Emerald Coast before my Dreamcast finally faints in exhaustion.
This, fellow gamers, is love.
I patted my console in admiration and vowed that it would never go back in the closet ever again, despite its condition. Maybe one day I'll find out how to fix it, who knows.
Regardless, happy 10th birthday old friend.

might just be a bad PSU board. buy a "broken" dreamcast for a few bucks and perform a transplant.

That's beautiful, man. Miracles do happen, and this is definitely proof. LONG LIVE THE DREAMCAST!

you should be proud to own a dreamcast that still tries to give its buyer enjoyment even after its death!
