New here.

Post by grone »

Hello, I am new here. Couldn't find somewhere to introduce myself so thought I could do it here. I moved recently and have nowhere to put all my vg stuff for display, so here it is! Lots is stored in my wardrobe, while the rest takes up all the room under my bed, or is scattered around my room, is in the car, is in my bag, is at a friends house, etc.

I've only been collecting for a few years. When I was about 5 I bought a Donkey Kong Game & Watch at a garage sale for $5. The first home console I bought was a SNES using my Christmas money. Unfortunately it was only a year or two before the Nintendo 64 was released :\ So although I've only recently put more money in to collecting, I did have some kind of beginning that it has grown from.

I found this site whilst Googling for more info on the GCN LAN adapter (The Four Swords 5 GCN + 5 TV setup), and quickly started reading more articles. And that brings me to joining the forums and making some kind of introduction.

UPDATE: Ok I gave in, and we went to Ikea and bought some shelving. It doesn't all fit very well and there is still quite a bit that I couldn't fit in to any of the remaining crevices. When I can afford to buy more shelves I will, but until then, this will do!

Tharr she blows:

EDIT AGAIN: Added another shelf and uncluttered a little. Also can see the start of my Mario Kart LAN setup.

Haha, yeah, upon reflection I guess using the search function would've been the way to go. Thanks for the welcomes :)

I think I have a picture of my Game Boy stuff somewhere, give me a tick (real time post!)

Found it!

But to get the rest will take a lot of unpacking and repacking.

And I do have some of it plugged in. I have two GameCubes plugged in, hooked up with a cross-over cable for some LAN Mario Kart at the moment. But it would be a waste of space (and impractical) for me to plug them all in at once.

Wow. Beautiful GB collection. Excellent man.

Hey how much of a pain in the ass IS the e-reader? I've been thinking about nabbing one, but I hear you gotta swipe like 10 cards for 1 game??

To be honest the games aren't worth it, but if you are in to Animal Crossing you can get extra town items / tunes, etc. by swiping cards. I don't know if it's meant to be something you use with friends i.e. card trading, or if it's really meant to be able to hold it's own as something you play games with.

I don't know how big the games get, but I think they are generally around 3 or 4 cards. Data is on the top and bottom side of the card, so that's 8 swipes per game. Sometimes they don't read properly or you end up swiping the same card twice. All in all it's a waste unless you see one come up cheap.
