32X Question

Post by Betamax001 »

OK so I've read that a 32X works on a model 1 Genesis, but you need a different cable for model 1s compared to model 2s. Is this true or not?

"I might end up getting another Genesis anyway when I get a 32X because 90% of listings I've seen of a 32X on amazon or ebay, it just has the 32X and no cables...."

Yeah, the Model 1 genesis has different AV ports than the model 2. Since the 32X also interfaces with the genesis through the AV cables, a special adapter is required for model 1 genesis.
Boy I tell you what, are those some god dang video games?

Yeah, your best bet to get a 32X with all the cables needed is to get it bundled with a Model 1 and a few games off of eBay for like $20.

Trust me though a 32X is worth the investment, especially since it takes the pure RGB signal from the Genesis and then uses it's own much higher composite encoder to give you a stunning picture when compared to a normal Genesis.

Thats probably what I would have ended up doing. Though would it matter if it was bundled with a Model 1 or Model 2? Because I'd rather have 1 model 1 and 1 model 2 then 2 model 1s...

Well it probably would as you'd need the little converter cable for the Genesis 1's larger AV multiout that makes it compatible with the 32X's Genesis 2 styled smaller AV multiout port.

Just buy a model 2. It's near impossible to find a 32x bundled with the model 1 cord. And if you were to buy just the cord it would cost just as much as a genny 2.

Top loader? You mean a sega cd model 1? Get model 2. Model 1 is less reliable.

Top loader is the model 2. You load the CD in by opening the top, like a PS1 or PS2 slim.
