Let's discuss the classic DBZ fighters in here. By "classic", I mean all the titles that were released on the Famicom up to the PlayStation (pre-1999). I used to collect Dragon Ball games back in the day, so I've played a majority of these titles. Some are super fun, while others just aren't that great at all. Which are your favorites? Discuss.
Here is a list in chronological order:
1992 - Gekitou Tenkaichi Budokai, Barcode Battler (Famicom)
1993 - Super Butoden (Super Famicom)
1993 - Dragon Ball Z (Arcade)
1993 - Super Butoden 2 (Super Famicom)
1994 - Buu Yuu Retsuden (Megadrive)
1994 - V.R.V.S. (Arcade)
1994 - Super Butoden 3 (Super Famicom)
1994 - Idainaru Goku Densetsu (PC Engine Super CD-Rom)
1995 - Dragon Ball Z 2 ~ Super Battle (Arcade)
1995 - Shin Butoden (Saturn)
1995 - Ultimate Battle 22 (PlayStation)
1996 - Hyper Dimension (Super Famicom)
1996 - Idainaru Dragon Ball Densetsu, Legends (PlayStation & Saturn)
1997 - Dragon Ball GT ~ Final Bout (PlayStation)
I'll post my impressions later.

Hyper Dimension is the only decent one, honestly. It's a pretty decent SNES fighter once you learn the moves. The music from all 3 Playstation entries is fantastic, but the games aren't worth playing. Legends is fun for an hour or two but otherwise, avoid.

Re: Retro Dragon Ball Z Fighters
I tried a couple DBZ fighters. They were okay, but I prefer the Bleach fighting games. Besides, most of them were made by Treasure.
Re: Retro Dragon Ball Z Fighters
I never liked any of the old DBZ games (fighters or otherwise), aside from one RPG for the Super Famicom which name I'm too lazy to look up.

Man, I remember playing the three Super Butoden games on an emulator. They were cool, since you could fly and do a Kamehameha battle. Plus, I had just gotten into anime, so I was mostly watching DBZ and Gundam Wing, so being able to fight it out was great.
Now I look back and see that their actual fighting system was pretty terrible.

Re: Retro Dragon Ball Z Fighters
Okay. The best ones, IMO, are Super Butoden 2, Hyper Dimension, Dragon Ball Z 2 ~ Super Battle, Shin Butdoden and Idainaru Goku Densetsu.
DBZ2~Super Battle (Arcade) is the best of the best, though. I played it many times on MAME and it's truly an amazing game. It's like a super fast paced S.Butoden2-meets-Shin Butdoden. Not a whole lot of characters to choose from, but it doesn't matter. The gameplay is top notch. If you get a chance to try it out, don't hesitate.
Idainaru Goku Densetsu (PC Engine) is another awesome game. Though the fighting doesn't last that long, it's incredibly fun and nice to look at. They made it look like how they fight in the anime, but in 2D. I've only played this game one time...a long time ago, but I remember liking it alot. I've owned the game for years in the hopes that I would someday be able to buy a Turbo Duo/PC Engine one day. But I still have yet to.

Yeah, DBZ2-Super Battle is the one I always played, and the one I always recommend others play.

Re: Retro Dragon Ball Z Fighters
You can get the US version of Ultimate Battle 22 for PS1 for 5 bucks on Amazon. Is it even worth 5 bucks? No it was bad when I thought Budokai was good.
