So I just have this new humongous interest in 2nd generation consoles. I stumbled into them when I was trying to do a history of videogames sort of game routine and I'm surprised how much I actually like them. Years ago I got a little Atari controller that went straight into the t.v. and, not liking it very much, I just shrugged off this whole era of gaming! Luckily, with the help of Classic Game Room, I was able to learn more about this period in gaming history and now I'm hooked.
Are there any games that you would suggest for the Atari 2600, Colecovision, Odyssey2, and Intellivision? I'm interested to see what you guys like.

I was never huge fan of the era...but I remember having fun with combat and warlords on the 2600 (and custer's revenge!)

Re: New interest
Have you played the Activision games on the 2600 like Barnstorming, Beamrider, and Pitfall? I'm finding these incredibly addictive. The Colecovision also looks like it has an awesome catalog of games including one of my personal favorites, Zaxxon.

same for me. i just can't seem to enjoy myself with most of that era. although there is a few gems out there.dlmvii wrote:I was never huge fan of the era...but I remember having fun with combat and warlords on the 2600 (and custer's revenge!)

I guess I'd say I'm more interested to see what are the good Intellivision games because, so far, that looks like the weakest system in terms of good games.

Astrosmash for the Intellivision. I can sit and play that game for hours on end. All the sports games for the intellivision are pretty good IMO, NHL hockey is one of my favorite.

Re: New interest
I always liked Night Stalker on the Intellivision. Just be aware that the Int controller isn't comfortable for extended play. Demon Attack is a fun upgraded Space Invaders Clone on both the Int and 2600. River Raid, Yar's Revenge, and Kaboom are fun on the 2600. You'll need paddles for Kaboom.UBERTRON777 wrote:I guess I'd say I'm more interested to see what are the good Intellivision games because, so far, that looks like the weakest system in terms of good games.
