Got an awesome deal today (sorta). After a 5mile race this morning I cruised around and looked at several yard sales, something I never do. To my surprise I found a guy selling a Sega CDX, 10 CDX games, and a old-school NES for (get this) $1. Of course I coughed up my hard earned cash and took my prize home. Also happened to get God of War 1 & 2 for $5 each, Killzone for $5, Shadow of the Colossus for $5, a PS2 memory card for $2 and some other goodies, including the Back to the Future OST for 50cents.
So anyway, I get home and plug the CDX in and (yep) it doesn't work. The orange display on the system lights up when powered on and flashes "game". I tried inserting Sonic CD and all I'm getting is the screen below on my TV. I've read that fuses tend to be a problem with CDXs, but I'm really not even sure where to start...the thing is pretty dirty, but the lens appears to be fine and the disc spins for a split second, but then comes to an abrupt stop once powered on.
Anyone know anything about this old system? Possibly how I may be able to fix this issue with it? I know its fixable, because I read about a guy who had one that wouldn't even turn on and he ended up fixing it after some studying. Thought I'd come here first, though.
Guessing its a parts problem and if that's the case, does anyone know where I could get some parts like the main board for a CDX on the net? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.
EDIT: I've done some more research and it appears that CDX systems generally seem to have one of two problems: 1.) Bad power connections or 2.) Broken lens. My system powers on and even the LCD display works, so I'm ruling out #1. Like I said, the lens appears to be fine but that's the only thing I can come up with at this point. The lense moves and spins the disc for a split second, but the screen displays nothing but static. So I found a forum where a guy says that the CDX uses a Sanyo SF-C93 laser lens. The prices for said lenses aren't too terribly bad, $10-$25 depending on the retailer, but I'm skeptical to pay for the lens and install it with the possibility of $$ wasted. Here's the site where I gained this information on the lens: http://nfggames.com/forum2/index.php?topic=3557.0
Sega CDX Help
Re: Sega CDX Help
The first thing I would try is get a can of compressed air and insert the extension hose into the unit itself. Just start blowing it in to potentially free up any debris that might be preventing the mechanism from smoothly working. That's what I did to get my CDX working.
If that doesn't help then it's likely you'll have to open it up. The CDX is a pain to open, though, since all the components are jam packed into the small case.

Re: Sega CDX Help
Hey, I'm not sure if anyone still checks this post, but I had the EXACT SAME THING happening with my CDX. I was all ready to bring my CDX to a shop to have it repaired, when I saw a forum where they said that it may be a case of not enough power getting to the system. The sega 2 and 3 use a different a/c adapter than the cdx does. the sega 2 and 3 use an a/c adfapter with 8.5mah and the cdx needs at least 10.5. I had lost the original CDX power cable and bought one for a sega 2 thinking it would work. It didn't. WHen I tried using my PS2 cable, it worked like it was BRAND NEW! Hope this info helps someone.
